Reading:
Students will continue to practice asking questions as well as making inferences about the characters feelings.Students will be reading the next story in the Jr. Great Books curriculum, “Chin Yu Min and the Ginger Cat”. While reading students will find evidence and use reasoning to explain how the evidence they selected supports their inferences. Students will take a comprehension assessment on the story on Thursday, Nov 7th. Writing: Students will be writing an expository story about the picture of themselves with their toys. Grammar/Vocabulary: Students will be learning about nouns and also three root words (hydr, aqua/aqu, mar/mer).. Students will have an informal quiz on both next week. You will see the list of words they will be working on listed on their homework packet this week. No WORDLY WISE or SPELLING this week!!! Math: Students will continue topic 1- Understanding Multiplication and Division of whole numbers. Students should start working with multiplication facts. Flashcards are a great way to do so! Science: Students will continue to analyze data gathered on the precipitation and temperature data collected from the island of Borneo. Students will be trying to determine which island will continue to be the best for the orangutan reserve. Social Studies: Immigration Spoons Project should be sent in by Monday, November 4th. Students will begin to present their spoons. Students will be writing a summary of their interview findings to help with their presentations.
